Two more fighters are joining the roster of Dead or Alive 6: Hitomi and Leifang. The pair can be seen knocking each other around a new stage, Forbidden Fortune, that features a curious new addition to the Dead or Alive universe: a giant, angry kraken.
Apparently, Hitomi and Leifang — who debuted in Dead or Alive 3 and the original Dead or Alive, respectively — have found themselves in a Goonies-esque situation, battling on a treasure-filled pirate ship guarded by an angry cephalopod.
Their new trailer shows off Hitomi’s karate skills, “using techniques that combine both offensive and defensive elements in one smooth strike,” according to developer Team Ninja and publisher Koei Tecmo. The footage also shows off Leifang’s t’ai chi ch’uan expertise, combining holds and counterattacks. The video is also further evidence that Team Ninja is dialing down the over-sexualized character designs of previous games and giving its cast some sensible fighting gear to wear.
Hitomi and Leifang join Ryu Hayabusa, Kasumi, Hayate, Helena, Jann Lee, Zack, Diego and Rig as part of Dead or Alive 6’s confirmed roster. Check out some screens of the newest fighters in the gallery below.
Dead or Alive 6 is slated to come to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One in early 2019.
