Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft’s Netflix-style game subscription service for the Xbox One, allows users to download and play over 100 games for a monthly fee of $9.99, including day-one access for Xbox exclusives. In celebration of Gamescom 2018, however, Microsoft is lowering that price to $2 and throwing in an extra month for free.
Through Aug. 31, new Xbox Game Pass subscribers can pick up a full two months of membership for essentially $1 a month at the Microsoft Store. That’s just about the lowest this subscription service can get.
Not to be outdone, Amazon is running an Xbox Game Pass deal as well. Amazon Prime members can get an extra three months free when they buy a six-month subscription at full price, $59.99, via Amazon Digital Services. Xbox Game Pass is usually $10 a month, so that’s a savings of $30.
While Microsoft’s Game Pass deal is only available to new customers, current Game Pass subscribers who are also Amazon Prime members will also be able to redeem the Amazon deal.
These Xbox Game Pass discounts are tied to Microsoft’s Gamescom press conference, where the company announced release dates and console bundles for upcoming Xbox titles. Among those was an updated version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which will be coming to Xbox Game Pass on Sept. 1.
