Destiny 2 owners can try Forsaken’s new Gambit mode free

Free trial will last for just 24 hours

All Destiny 2 owners will soon get the chance to try out one of the biggest new elements of the game’s upcoming expansion, Destiny 2: Forsaken: the Crucible mode Gambit.

Destiny 2 developer Bungie will run a free trial for Gambit starting on Saturday, Sept. 1. The trial will only be available for 24 hours, from 1 p.m. EDT on Sept. 1 until 1 p.m. EDT on Sept. 2. Because the Gambit trial will pop up within Destiny 2, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners will need to have an active subscription to PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold, respectively, to play it. No such restriction is in place for the Windows PC version of Destiny 2, which is available exclusively via Activision’s Battle.net platform.

Gambit is one of Forsaken’s most exciting offerings, pitting players against a horde of enemies and each other in Destiny’s first player-versus-environment-versus-player mode. Each of the maps are uniquely tailored for the mode, and players will need to work in teams of four to quickly eliminate the room. Teams can occasionally invade opponents’ arenas, acting as a PvP combatant and causing all sorts of problems.

Destiny 2: Forsaken itself will launch Sept. 4 — two days after the free trial ends — on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
