Twitch’s massive Pokémon marathon will feature 936 TV episodes and 16 movies

Twitch has announced its most massive marathon yet: a Pokémon anime event that will feature 19 TV seasons (932 episodes) and 16 Pokémon movies out of a total 20 TV seasons and 21 movies. In addition, viewers will be able to catch Pokémon alongside Ash and his friends — the event features an interactive overlay that will allow participants to virtually collect Pokémon badges. Episodes and movies will be broadcast through a series of marathons beginning on Aug. 27 and continuing into 2019.

Pokémon badges — Pokémon-themed Twitch badges, not actual gym badges — will appear on-screen through a Twitch Extensions overlay. Badges equal points, and players will compete for placement on a leaderboard over the course of the event.

“Our upcoming Pokémon: The Series viewing event — which is in partnership with The Pokémon Company International — marks our most ambitious block of animated to date in terms of duration content,” said Jane Weedon, director of business development at Twitch, in a news release.

The streaming event will kick off with the first season, Pokémon: Indigo League, on Aug. 27 at 1 p.m. EDT/10 a.m. PDT. All content will be broadcast on the TwitchPresents channel, where you can also find the full schedule for the event.
