Capcom brings the Monster Hunter franchise to Nintendo Switch this week with the eShop release of Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, an upgraded version of the game that was originally released on Nintendo 3DS in 2015.
Don’t expect the more player-friendly refinements of Capcom’s Monster Hunter World, which hit consoles and PC earlier this year, but do expect a deep, content-stuffed and challenging action-RPG. (And check out Polygon’s beginner’s guide if you’re diving into Monster Hunter for the first time on Switch.)
Joining Monster Hunter on the eShop this week is Blade Strangers, Nicalis’ crossover fighting game that features characters from The Binding of Isaac, Code Princess, Cave Story, Shovel Knight and other franchises. There’s also a Nintendo Switch Edition of Prison Architect, if on-the-go imprisonment simulation is more your speed.
