No such thing planned for the West just yet

Famicom and Super Famicom Classic Edition bundle Nintendo

Not only does Japan get the more attractive versions of the Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo Entertainment System — it’s true! sorry! — but Japanese customers are also getting a chance to buy the miniature versions of the consoles in one go. A similarly stylish bundle, composed of the Famicom and Super Famicom Classic Editions, is coming to Japanese stores in September.

Amazon is taking pre-orders for the set, which is on sale for 14,940 yen (around $134). A special Amazon limited deal, which includes the original instruction books for Super Mario Bros. and F-Zero, is also available for 15,077 yen (or about $135). The mini-SNES comes with 21 games, including Star Fox 2, while the mini-NES will come with 30 titles.

While this deal is only available in Japan, this could be good news for the rest of us. If the deal does well, it’s possible Nintendo could offer a Western bundle in the future. Fingers crossed, anyway. For now, we’ll just longingly stare at the Amazon Japan order page and watch pictures of the set in action as they roll out across social media.

The bundle is available for Japan on Sept. 15. We’ll keep our ears peeled for whispers of a similar bundle coming to the West.
