Destiny 2: Forsaken, like all Destiny games and expansions before it, will feature exclusive content for PlayStation customers, as publisher Activision said when it announced the expansion in June. In a PlayStation Blog post on Thursday, Sony detailed the slate of PS4 exclusives, including a strike and an impressive-looking exotic weapon.
Longtime Destiny players remain frustrated by this situation — even PlayStation owners, who benefit from the exclusive content, often express sympathy for their PC and Xbox brethren — but they’re accustomed to it by now.
First up on the list for Forsaken is Wavesplitter, an exotic trace rifle. When you fire the weapon to send out its beam of superheated electrons, the rifle will cycle between three power levels, getting stronger the longer you hold down the trigger. Note that you can jump straight to maximum power for a limited time if you pick up an orb of Light.
The trace rifle is a rare type of weapon in Destiny 2. There are only two in the game so far — Coldheart (originally a pre-order exclusive) and Prometheus Lens. That number will double (on PS4) with the launch of Forsaken, which will add Wavesplitter as well as One Thousand Voices to the arsenal.
Sony and Activision are also reserving a strike for Forsaken owners on PS4, giving those customers four strikes, while players on Windows PC and Xbox One get three. The PS4-exclusive co-op dungeon is called Broodhold, and it will send fireteams into a Hive infestation in the Tangled Shore to deal with a Hive Brood Queen — who takes both physical and shadow forms. You can see 24 minutes of Broodhold gameplay above.
PS4 players will also have access to three exclusive sets of armor, one per class: Red Moon Phantom (Hunter), Mimetic Savior (Titan) and Thorium Holt (Warlock). You can see them in GIFs in the gallery below.
Finally, the last piece of PS4-exclusive content in Forsaken is a ship called Great Beyond:

As for all of Destiny 2’s currently available PS4-exclusive content — including the sniper rifle Borealis and the Warmind strike The Insight Terminus — Activision said in June that those items will be released on PC and Xbox One when Forsaken launches on Sept. 4.
