NBA Jam’s voice records Dota 2 announcer pack

You bring the, uh, Dotes, he’ll bring the jam? OK.

Owen S. Good is a longtime veteran of video games writing, well known for his coverage of sports and racing games.

The voice of NBA Jam, “Mr. Boomshakalaka” himself, Tim Kitzrow, has a new gig: Dota 2.

Not officially official, but the voice of this “Dota Jam” pack is Kitzrow’s. The announcer pack is currently listed on Steam Workshop and waiting for the requisite number of votes to be accepted and supported by the game. So what are you waiting for? Get over there and thumbs-up it.

And yes, that really is Kitzrow — it’s not a cut-up soundfile from another game, he’s reading off Dota-specific calls here. Kitzrow tweeted yesterday that he’s also taking requests. He did something like that back when NBA Jam rebooted for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and (gosh) Wii in 2010, so whatever you have in mind, dude will probably say it.

Kitzrow, a longtime actor and voice over artist, is the original voice of NBA Jam’s arcade and home console editions. He’s also been the commentator for the NHL Hitz, MLB Slugfest and NFL Blitz series, and most recently was a part of the Mutant Football League revival that launched in January.
