The latest trailer for Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns shows off the wondrous magic of Mary Poppins.
Emily Blunt takes on the iconic role originated by Julie Andrews. Mary Poppins has come back to England to take care of the Banks children again — the two grown children, specifically. (Though she does add that she’s there for Michael’s three children as well.) Michael is raising his three children on his own, and has forgotten what it means to be a whimsical child.
Keeping in spirit of the original, Mary Poppins brings the children to a wonderfully animated world. There’s singing! There’s dancing! There are playful dolphins! There’s Lin-Manuel Miranda with a cockney accent!
Alongside Blunt and Miranda, playing lamplighter Jack, the Mary Poppins Returns cast includes Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer as Michael and Jane Banks. Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Julie Walters, Angela Lansbury, and Dick Van Dyke, though he won’t reprise the role of Bert.
Mary Poppins Returns floats into theaters on Dec. 19.
