In the upcoming film, Captain Marvel, Brie Larson will take on the role of the titular character Captain Marvel — a.k.a. U.S. Air Force pilot Carol Danvers. The film is set in the 1990s, well before the age of The Avengers and anything else we’ve seen from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Larson will share the screen with Samuel L. Jackson and Clark Gregg, who will be returning as their characters Nick Fury and Agent Phil Coulson. Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou also appear in the film, reprising roles from the Guardians of the Galaxy films. Captain Marvel will also bring Jude Law to the MCU as Danvers’ mentor, Mar-Vell, and Annette Bening in an unknown role.
The official synopsis is below:
The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Captain Marvel will be in theaters March 8, 2019. Until then, you can follow along with all the Captain Marvel news below.
