Raphael Sorel, the French nobleman who wields the rapier known as Flambert, returns to the Soulcalibur series with Soulcalibur 6, publisher Bandai Namco announced today.
Based on a new character reveal trailer released ahead of Tokyo Game Show, Raphael’s look in Soulcalibur 6 will more closely match his earlier appearances in the series — given the earlier time period in which the game takes place — rather than his more vampire-like aesthetic from later games in the franchise.
Raphael made his first appearance in Soulcalibur 2, and has returned for all subsequent mainline games. He’ll be joined by another recently revealed character in Soulcalibur 6: Cervantes. A trailer for Cervantes, released last week, can be seen below.
The addition of Raphael and Cervantes brings Soulcalibur 6’s roster to 20 characters, including returning fighters Astaroth, Taki, Talim, Ivy, Zasalamel, Sophitia, Mitsurugi, Voldo, Seong Mi-na, Nightmare, Xianghua and Kilik, as well as newcomers Azwel and Grøh. The Witcher’s Geralt will also be featured as a guest character, and Soulcalibur 3’s Tira will join Soulcalibur 6 as downloadable content.
Soulcalibur 6 is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on Oct. 19. Check out the gallery below for screenshots of Raphael in action.
