Activision has revealed some of the post-launch content for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. which will go out first to the PlayStation 4 as a timed exclusive. While this is “just a sampling” of what’s to come, details are sparse.
Here’s what we know so far: First, the popular Blackout battle royale mode, which just got out of a beta test this weekend, “will continue to evolve after launch with regular map updates, expansions and new Blackout modes,” Activision said.
Specialists, the class-based characters making their return to Black Ops (they were introduced in Black Ops 3) will add new members to their ranks beginning in December. Activision said these will be “the first of several new characters.”
There will also be seasonal, weekly and other limited-time events as Black Ops 4 rolls on. And Call of Duty is going back to the Nuketown well again; that map will be remade again, returning in November. Nuketown has been in all three preceding Black Ops games.
Activision reminds that all post-release playable content coming to Black Ops 4 will be out first on PlayStation 4, continuing the relationship the game has had with the console going back to 2015, when PlayStation took over as the lead platform for the franchise.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches Oct. 12 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
Update: Activision also announced that the content will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 for one week.
