How the new, weekly reset works in Destiny 2: Forsaken

Do your daily quests if you don’t want to lose out on powerful rewards

Ryan Gilliam (he/him) has worked at Polygon for nearly seven years. He primarily spends his time writing guides for massively popular games like Diablo 4 & Destiny 2.

Destiny 2: Forsaken released earlier this week, and everything seems pretty great so far. But since release, Bungie has been quiet about the new, twice weekly reset that we heard about a few months ago. In this week’s This Week at Bungie, the studio finally released details on what players can and should expect for Year Two’s weekly activities.

Contrary to the information that we and other outlets reported this year, the Flashpoint, Nightfall, and other weekly challenges will only reset on Tuesday, as usual. However, Forsaken’s new daily challenge system will refresh every four days.

The cycle — as it appears now, it could change over the weeks — is daily strike, daily Gambit match, daily Crucible match, daily heroic adventure, with each day offering a single challenge. Completing that daily will give you powerful gear, and you’ll get a new one of the same variety in four days.

But the daily missions will remain until that specific daily gets reset. For example, players have had since Tuesday, Sept. 4 to complete their daily strike challenge. If they don’t complete it by Saturday, Sept. 8, the challenge will not stack and those players will have that daily replaced by another, asking them to complete a daily strike.

This cycle will continue every four days in perpetuity, allowing players to increase their power each passing day.
