The second season of Netflix and Marvel’s The Punisher is almost here, and Netflix has finally given us our first real trailer at the upcoming season.
Frank Castle’s story appears to pick back up almost exactly where it left off a the end of the first season. Castle is recovering from his injuries — with the help of his new companion Amy Bendix, played by Giorgia Whigham — and preparing to deal with the aftermath of his fight with former squad-mate Billy Russo.
Speaking of Russo, it would appear that the fight with Frank left him permanently disfigured which pushes him to don a terrifying mask and call himself, Jigsaw. Also featured in the trailer is the mysterious John Pilgrim, who is on the hunt for both Bendix and Castle.
While this season, and another season of Jessica Jones are both on the way, the fate of these Netflix and Marvel co-productions remains uncertain. With the two companies splitting ways, likely thanks in part to the upcoming Disney+ streaming service, shows like Luke Cage, Daredevil and Iron Fist have already been cancelled. It’s unclear if The Punisher’s second season will be its last. It’s also possible that the season will end on a definitive note with no plans to return.
Either way, we’ll have to wait to find out The Punisher’s ultimate fate will have to wait until the season debuts on Netflix on Jan. 18.
