Telesto is a unique fusion rifle weapon in Destiny 2. Instead of shooting bolts of energy that instantly kill anything in front of it, like normal fusion rifles, the Telesto launches mines that stick to the ground or targets before exploding. And Bungie’s disabled it for ruining a part of its game ... again.
Telesto’s latest glitch lets players get their Super back in record time — around five seconds, to be exact. This bug works in both PvE and PvP, meaning players using the exploit could spend an entire match against other players using their most powerful ability.
To create the exploit, players equipped an Armor 1.0 armor piece with the Enhanced Ashes to Assets perk and an Armor 2.0 armor piece with the Enhanced Ashes to Assets mod — with Ashes to Assets, grenade kills grant Super energy. Then players simply fire about four Telesto shots onto the ground and throw their grenade to burst the mines.
For some reason, the Telesto mines count as kills, which triggers the mods, which stack together in ways they’re not supposed to, to grant tons of Super energy at once. If you’re looking for a visual representation, check out Destiny 2 YouTube content creator Ehroar’s video above.
But this isn’t Telesto’s first rodeo with ruining Destiny. Over the past year, players have used similar glitches to skip entire activities. In the wave based Blind Well mode, players could simply shoot Telesto shots to speed through the percentage of enemies killed. In the Menagerie earlier this year, players could shoot Telesto over the finish line in the Gauntlet to instantly finish the race.
Even this weekend, after Bungie removed the item, Telesto was still causing problems. In Vayden’s video above, you can see a preview of Telesto imprinting itself onto other gun models. So instead of the Coldheart of Lord of Wolves model, you get Telesto firing a laser beam or flaming shrapnel. This happened because Bungie disabled Telesto while Vayden had it equipped.
As of this writing, we don’t know when Bungie will allow Telesto back out into the wild.
