The preliminary patch notes for Final Fantasy 14’s patch 5.1 released, showing that a lot of old content is going to be tweaked to be a bit easier.
For one, Thornmarch, the fight that pits you against Good King Moggle Mog XII (he of the regal whisker) has been tweaked so players can’t just bum-rush him immediately. He still won’t take damage if not enough of his minions are killed, but differently now. His highness will also deal less damage with Momento Moogle, so that should help groups to wipe less when they inevitably roll this fight in Trials Roulette. It’s not specified how much easier this fight will be, but hopefully new players will realize that they need to stop attacking the king and start attacking Pukla Puki the Pomburner instead.
I hate him.
Item levels have also been added to the dungeons needed to complete the game’s Main Scenario Quests, starting with those included in the Heavensward expansion and going all the way to Shadowbringers. Now folks will stop being under-geared in your dungeon runs and you won’t have to experience an ally with a tank build that happens to be born with paper skin and glass bones.
Most of the confusing crafting skills are also getting tossed this patch, simplifying all the crafting classes. Seeing as most crafters only used a handful of skills on a macro anyway, Square Enix has finally tossed all those extra skills to the curve. If you’re rapidly leveling up a crafter, you won’t have to deal with the overwhelming amount of skills that didn’t seem to do much anymore.
Patch 5.1 for Final Fantasy 14 will release in-game on Oct. 29. The Nier: Automata alliance raid, more housing, and more quests to continue the Shadowbringers storyline will also release with this patch.
