Destiny 2’s new multiplayer mode makes even the worst weapons dangerous

Momentum Control is cranking guns up to 11

In the latest This Week at Bungie post, the Destiny developer revealed a new multiplayer mode coming to Destiny 2: Momentum Control.

While previous Destiny 2 modes like Mayhem put the focus on abilities and Supers, Momentum Control is all about guns. In this mode, which is a variant of the regular Control mode, every weapon has significantly higher lethality, which means they’ll take out opponents much faster than normal. There’s even more heavy ammo spawns in case bigger guns are your favorite. Thankfully with all this increased damage, Bungie has also added instant respawns to the mode.

Defeating enemy players in Momentum Control will grant faster regeneration on your melee, grenades, and Super, so those won’t be entirely missing from the mode. Speaking of Supers, players get increased damage resistance when they activate a Super to help counteract a bit of the extra damage that guns have.

Momentum Control is also going to be a little bit more sneaky since the Tracker has been removed for every player. The mode also has increased capture speed on points, since it’s already going to be pretty hard to stay alive.

Momentum Control is a 6v6 mode and will be available as a rotating playlist throughout this year’s Festival of the Lost. After that Bungie will decide how much players liked it and whether the mode should return.
