After a series of teases and rumors, it’s official: Electronic Arts is coming back to Steam after eight years of being absent on the distribution platform.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Apex Legends, Sims 4, and more bound for Steam

The first new EA game coming to Steam will be Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which will arrive on Nov. 15 — and incidentally can be pre-ordered starting today. Later this year, The Sims 4 and Unravel 2 will come to Steam. Next year, other EA franchises will return on Steam, such as Apex Legends, FIFA 20, and Battlefield 5 — all of which were previously only playable on PC via Origin.
The full extent of the partnership will come to fruition in spring 2020, when users will be able to subscribe to the EA Access program via Steam. The subscription gives players access to games, early trials, discounts, expansions, and special in-game items for $4.99 a month, or $29.99 a year. EA Access originally launched on Xbox One in 2014, and later came to PC (as Origin Access) and PlayStation 4.
“This is a good day for gamers,” said Valve’s Gabe Newell. “We’re excited to partner with EA to not only bring their great games and subscription service to Steam, but also to open up our communities to each other in an unprecedented way that will benefit players and developers around the world.”
EA said that “players on Origin and Steam will have the ability to play together,” but did not provide specifics.
