Green Lantern show coming to HBO Max from Arrow and The Flash creator

Berlanti will also produce a DC anthology series

Arrow Legends of Tomorrow DC Entertainment/Warner Bros. Television

Greg Berlanti the creator of DC Universe shows like Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Titans, and Doom Patrol, is taking on two new super-projects with Strange Adventures and Green Lantern. The announcement of these new shows was made during a press event for WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service HBO Max on Tuesday evening.

In a press release sent out shortly after the announcement, Berlanti said Green Lantern, “promises to be our biggest DC show ever made.” Berlanti also confirmed that the show will in fact take place, at least partially, in space. Unfortunately, those are all the Green Lantern details that were shared during the HBO Max presentation.

This won’t be Berlanti’s first experience creating shows for streaming services. Berlanti also worked on adaptations for Titans and Doom Patrol for the DC’s streaming service, DC Universe Now. While Berlanti has extensive experience creating shows for DC, Green Lantern will be one of the biggest heroes he’s taken on so far.

Strange Adventures is a DC Super Hero anthology series. Berlanti described the show as mostly being “cautionary tales set in a world where superpowers exist.” The show will bring together Berlanti, Sarah Schechter (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl,), and showrunner/writer John Stephens (Gotham, Gossip Girl) as executive producers.

There’s no word yet on when Berlanti’s new shows will debut, but HBO Max will launch sometime in the spring of 2020.
