WarnerMedia announced that HBO Max, the upcoming streaming service, will launch May 2020 for $14.99. HBO Max will join a lineup of Apple TV Plus (launching Nov. 1), Disney Plus (launching Nov. 12), and NBCUniversal’s Peacock (launch date TBD 2020).
HBO Max is priced the same amount as HBO’s standalone streaming service, but will contain twice the amount of content. Existing customers under HBO Now will get access to HBO Max at no charge. The service will boast its share of hosted content, such as South Park and Rick and Morty, as well as original series like the upcoming Targaryen-focused Game of Thrones prequel and a Green Lantern series from Arrowverse creator Greg Berlanti.
Previously, WarnerMedia announced that HBO Max would be the exclusive home of all the Ghibli movies, making them available for streaming for the first time ever. HBO Max will also host The Big Bang Theory, The Boondocks, and four all-new Adventure Time specials.
