Netflix’s Eli puts a boy in a creepy mansion with a creepy doctor and creepy ghosts

That Gothic house isn’t just an aesthetic chocie

Netflix is gearing up for Halloween with some very creepy horror movies. The latest is Eli, which follows a young boy named Eli who has one of those mysterious movie illnesses which makes him allergic to the outside world. His family thinks that the only cure is retreating to this cool-looking Gothic mansion, where he will receive treatment from a totally normal and chill doctor, while living inside a plastic bubble. Totally fine, right?

Well, turns out the cool-looking Gothic mansion isn’t just an aesthetic choice; there’s something seriously wrong here. Like, creepy dead children lurking in the shadows wrong. Also that totally normal doctor is probably murdering children for some reason. Jeepers!

Eli stars horror movie staple Lili Taylor as the mysterious doctor and Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink as the gal next door who just wants to know why Eli is trapped inside the house forever and ever. The movie drops on Netflix on Oct. 18.
