Netflix’s take on The Witcher is officially coming on Dec. 20.
A new trailer dives fully into the mythos of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels. The series will draw upon the books, not the video games, which means certain things like Geralt’s sword placement will reflect the written word not the CD Projekt Red game. Don’t worry: Roach the horse will be present.
The trailer starts off with a narration from Yennefer introducing Geralt, who saunters onto screen. It’s the Geralt show, after all, and we definitely get a lot of the Witcher in action (and in the bathtub!). But Ciri and Yennefer also make appearances, and their own personal missions.
Henry Cavill (formerly known as Superman) stars as Geralt, with Freya Allan (The War of the Worlds, Bluebird) as Ciri, and Anya Chalotra (Wanderlust, The ABC Murders) as Yennefer. The first costume test images of Henry Cavill in a long, sleek silver wig were met with raised eyebrows, but since the first actual image reveal and the first trailer debuted, there is no doubt that Cavill is striding confidently into the role of Geralt. Just check out those strong shoulders.
