The major Disney movies that are still on Netflix

In 2012, shortly after the industry-quaking acquisition of Lucasfilm and the Star Wars franchise, Disney made another landmark deal: the company’s tentpole films would stream on Netflix. The partnership began in earnest in 2016, when Marvel movies and Disney’s animated features started trickling on to the service. But even by then, it was clear Disney had its own plan for the streaming wars; in April 2017, the company announced that the deal wouldn’t be renewed and all Disney titles would revert back to home base.

Jump ahead to November 2019 and the launch of Disney Plus, a hub for all things Disney-owned — except for the movies that remain tied up in the Netflix deal. If prospective dates on the Disney Plus platform are any indication, some movies may not jump ship until early in 2021. So if you encounter some missing titles in your first perusal of the new platform, here’s why.
