Overwatch’s latest seasonal event, Winter Wonderland, goes live Tuesday, Dec. 10, on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One versions of the game. Winter Wonderland 2019 will run through Jan. 2, and players can earn a fresh batch of holiday-themed skins from loot boxes and weekly challenges.
Winter Wonderland 2019 will also see the return of the limited-time game mode Mei’s Snowball Offensive. And this year, Blizzard is introducing a new mode — still focused on Mei — called Snowball Deathmatch. Here’s how Snowball Deathmatch works, via Blizzard:
This is an 8-player free-for-all deathmatch where everyone will play as Mei with a modified Mei snowball gun, similar to the one from Mei’s Snowball Offensive. Mei will get a new ability in this game mode, called “Catch” – allowing you to catch an enemy snowball and, if successful, adding it to your ammo count. The first player to get to 15 eliminations wins!
Players can also earn a trio of epic-tier skins by winning games of Overwatch. Each week, players who win nine matches will receive the following cosmetic rewards:
- Week 1: Ugly Sweater Soldier:76
- Week 2: Holly Moira
- Week 3: Snow Angel Mercy
Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2019 will also add new legendary skins Jotunn Doomfist, Mountain Man McCree, Rat King Reaper, and Rime Sigma, all of which you can see in the gallery below.
