The mystery of Inside’s $375 limited edition by RealDoll revealed

It’s probably what you thought it was

Michael McWhertor is a journalist with more than 17 years of experience covering video games, technology, movies, TV, and entertainment.

Back in March 2018, Inside developer Playdead teamed up with iam8bit and sex toy maker RealDoll for a limited edition physical release of the game that was newsworthy for two reasons: It cost a whopping $375 and the contents of that package were never revealed. Until today.

On YouTube, iam8bit finally offers a peek at what RealDoll was making for the Inside collector’s edition. And if you haven’t played through Insideyou really should, though — it’s a major spoiler.

But anyone who has played Inside to completion was probably expecting this exact thing.

[Note: Spoilers for Inside and the Inside collector’s edition follow.]

Here’s the thing:

Yes, that’s the human blob from the ending moments of Inside, the rolling mass of human flesh that makes the finale of Playdead’s follow-up to Limbo so jaw-dropping. As you can see in the behind-the-scenes YouTube video, RealDoll’s silicone flesh approximation wriggles and deforms like the blob from Inside — but as far as we know, you can’t have sex with it. We’ve reached out to iam8bit to confirm.

If you want your own Inside collector’s edition, the bad news is that it’s sold out. The better news is that iam8bit says additional collector’s editions “may be available for future orders.” Inside fans can sign up to be on a waitlist for a “final chance” to buy the Inside collector’s edition and will be notified by February 2020.

Here’s a more in-depth look at everything that’s include in the Inside collector’s edition:
