Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey are back, and they’ve got rage issues

The new footage premiered during the Game Awards

Harley Quinn and her girl gang are back in a new trailer for Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). The new trailer gave us another look a the psychedelic Gotham City crafted by director Cathy Yan.

Birds of Prey (ATFEoOHQ) is named for DC Comics’ premiere all-female superhero team, and it follows Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), the Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), as they try to protect Cassandra Cain (Cassandra Cain) from the machinations of Batman villains Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) and Mr. Zsasz (Chris Messina). The movie takes place some time after the events of 2016’s Suicide Squad movie.

Star Margot Robbie actually began lobbying Warner Bros. to make a Harley Quinn movie during the production of Suicide Squad.

“I pitched the idea of an R-rated girl gang film including Harley,” she told Collider in 2018, “because I was like, ‘Harley needs friends.’ Harley loves interacting with people, so don’t ever make her do a standalone film. She’s got to be with other people, it should be a girl gang.”

Robbie will get her wish when Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) hits theaters on Feb. 7, 2020.
