On the heels of Resident Evil 2’s success, Capcom is remaking Resident Evil 3, the company announced this week. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis was originally released in 1999, but the new version will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC via Steam on April 3 — but if you don’t want to wait until then, you can get a taste of the game in the newly re-uploaded Resident Evil 2 demo on Steam.
Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 demo was uploaded yesterday without a time limit; Capcom’s “1-shot demo” for Resident Evil 2 was only briefly available, and players only had 30 minutes to complete the objective. But the update didn’t only remove the time limit. It also added in a creepy teaser for Resident Evil 3. Nemesis.

Nemesis is the big bad bag guy in Resident Evil 3 that’s hunting the S.T.A.R.S. — Special Tactics and Rescue Service — operations unit, of which Jill Valentine is a member. (Valentine is the main character in Resident Evil 3.)
You can’t see Nemesis in the Resident Evil 2 demo, but you can hear him growling: “STAAARS.”
Elsewhere in the game, players can also stumble upon a letter “left behind” from Valentine, which was leaked in a new achievement that popped up for Resident Evil 2 on Steam earlier this week. After all, Resident Evil 2 and 3 have very similar timelines and both take place in Raccoon City — it makes less to have these fun crossover teasers.
Resident Evil 3 will be out on April 3, 2020.
