Destiny 2: Season of Dawn teaser trailer reveals the fate of Saint-14

The triumphant Titan returns

Ahead of fully revealing Destiny 2’s next season, Season of Dawn, on Dec. 4, Bungie dropped a surprise teaser on Tuesday. In addition to a glimpse of the new gameplay activities and upcoming rewards, the teaser focuses on the return of a famous Guardian players once thought dead: Saint-14.

Bungie also revealed a few of the upcoming features for Season of Dawn on its website. The season looks to focus on Mercury, Destiny 2’s smallest planet. There’s a new activity called The Sundial, and those who own the season can earn new, Saint-14-inspired weapons. Players will also use the Lantern of Osiris as their new Artifact this season, and earn the Symmetry Exotic scout rifle through the season rank system.

But it’s clear from the trailer that Saint-14 is the hero of this upcoming season. Saint is a famous Guardian in the Destiny story. While players have never met Saint-14 in-game, they’ve used his helmet for years — the Helm of Saint-14 Titan Exotic. A year ago, during Destiny 2’s first expansion, Curse of Osiris, players discovered Saint-14’s body in the Infinite Forest, and picked up his Perfect Paradox shotgun.

But Saint-14 is definitely alive in Season of Dawn, he just won’t start that way. According to Osiris, who’s heard in the trailer, players will need to help correct the timeline and resurrect Saint-14 for good. For concrete answers on how exactly they’ll do that, fans will need to wait until the reveal stream on Dec. 4, or Season of Dawn’s Dec. 10 release date.
