The Haunt of Hill House was one of Netflix’s biggest hits of 2018. Now, the streaming giant has announced that the show will return for a second season, but not in the way you might expect. The series is turning into a horror anthology show, with the next season called The Haunting of Bly Manor.
Season 2 will feature new locations and a different cast. But, like the first season of the show, the main focus will likely be supernatural activity centered around a large and old home. Also like the first season, The Haunting of Bly Manor will take its basis from literature, as Bly Manor is the setting of Henry James’s novel The Turn of the Screw. Few details were announced, but it looks like this season will differ slightly from Hill House.
The second season may take on a wider scope beyond just Turn of the Screw, however. According to Amblin, the series’ production studio, the new season will be “based on the works of Henry James.” While certain creative liberties in expanding its source material, this one seems to be using James’ larger body of work for inspiration.
Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy created the show, and they will both return for the second season. Also coming back are other members of the team behind the first season, though it isn’t clear yet who exactly that includes. The Haunting of Bly Manor is set to debut on Netflix sometime in 2020.
