Upcoming animated film Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles seems like the crossover dream of an imaginative child. The first trailer promises that this wacky team-up will be just as fun as it sounds.
On the heels of their No. 1 foe, Shredder, the turtles find themselves in Gotham City. While the Batfam initially sees them as a threat, the two teams must join forces to defeat Shredder — who’s recruited a host of iconic Batman villains, Ra’s al Ghul and the Joker among them.
Also Raphael says “freakin’” — a little reminder that the turtles currently have a show on Nickelodeon and therefore cannot swear.
The upcoming movie is based on the 2015 miniseries of similar name (Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), which catapulted the pizza-loving sewer turtles into the DC universe and had them team up with the caped crusader himself. It boasts a stellar voice cast, including Darren Criss (American Crime Story, Birds of Prey) as Raphael, Troy Baker (The Last of Us, Batman: Arkham Origins) as both Batman and the Joker, and Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) as the Penguin.
Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on March 31.
