Microsoft officially announced a new tier of Xbox Game Pass on Tuesday: It’s called Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and will include Xbox Live Gold as part of the monthly subscription. The company confirmed previous reports about Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which will cost $14.99 per month.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate’s pricing scheme would be a savings for monthly Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Gold subscriptions cost $9.99 on a month-to-month basis. But the official price point will match what it costs to subscribe to Game Pass monthly and get Xbox Live Gold annually (about $180 total per year). Xbox owners can often get deals on annual and three-month subscriptions to Gold, making Ultimate more of a savings if you’re going month to month or prefer a bit of convenience.
During an episode of Inside Xbox, Microsoft’s Ben Decker said the decision to combine Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold was based on from players, who wanted the convenience of a single subscription.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is coming sometime in 2019.
