The second beta period for the rootin’, tootin’, dungeon-lootin’ Warhammer: Chaosbane is underway now through April 24 at 4 a.m. EDT, with two more characters added to the tryout and a new part of the realm to explore. The beta is available on PlayStation 4, Windows PC via Steam, and Xbox One.
The closed beta is available to anyone who has preordered the game (any edition), which will launch June 4. The new characters players may take for a spin are the Dwarf slayer (heavy-damage tank) and Wood Elf archer (range and speed). The level cap is now 25, and players may tour the land of Praag, in addition to a Nuln (the beta’s starting area) that has been reworked according to feedback from the first beta.
Warhammer: Chaosbane is a cooperative multiplayer game supporting up to four players, so beta participants can get a feel for how the classes work together, too.
We previewed Warhammer: Chaosbane with Konrad Vollen, the Imperial Soldier (an all-rounder type of class; Elontir, the High Elf mage, is the other) during the first phase at the beginning of March, and liked what we saw. This is the first action RPG set in Warhammer’s Fantasy Battles canon, and it plays a lot like Diablo fans would expect, with loot galore, special abilities, and swarms of enemies to slow down, chop down, and otherwise manage using several unique abilities.
Developer Eko Software said Chaosbane has been retooled considerably based on telemetry and feedback from the first go-around.
