Persona 5 is being turned into a Dynasty Warriors-style beat-’em-up

Atlus reveals Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, coming to PS4 and Switch

Atlus and Koei Tecmo are teaming up to reimagine Persona 5 as a Dynasty Warriors-style beat-’em-up called Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers. That game, announced on Thursday, is coming to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Atlus did not announce a release date.

In a teaser trailer for Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, protagonist Joker is shown fighting alongside his persona, Arsene, at Shibuya’s famous “scramble” crossing. In the style of Koei Tecmo’s Warriors (aka Musou) games, Joker is seen battling dozens of Persona 5 Shadows at once. The teaser ends with a glimpse of a new character.

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers is being developed by Atlus and Omega Force, the Koei Tecmo studio known for its work on the Warriors games. In addition to the core Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors brands (and the Orochi Warriors crossover), Omega Force has developed games based on Gundam, The Legend of Zelda, One Piece, and Fire Emblem franchises using the tactical beat-’em-up formula.

Atlus’ reveal of Persona 5 Scramble comes the day after the announcement of a new version of Persona 5 for PS4, Persona 5: The Royal, and one week after Joker’s debut in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
