Avengers: Endgame boasts a stacked cast. Even with a three-hour runtime, every actor that directors Joe and Anthony Russo squeeze in and waltz across screen — familiar or fresh-faced to the MCU — feels like nothing short of a miracle. But there was one actress rumored to appear in the film who didn’t make the final cut: 13 Reason Why’s Katherine Langford.
The controversial Netflix show, in which Langford stars, has a passionate fanbase, and a vocal faction was antsy to see the actress secure a place in the soon-to-be-biggest movie on the planet. When Endgame finally hit theaters this week, 13 Reason Why viewers were on the lookout for Langford. But come credits, Langford failed to make even a cameo appearance. Cue a bevy of public reactions.
Fans were confused. Some felt that Langford must have been in a blink-and-you’ll-miss it cameo; some thought she might’ve been cut from the finished film; others tweeted their disappointment directly to Marvel and the Russo brothers. In the end, everyone started to question where they’d even heard that Langford was supposed to be in Endgame.
Was Langford actually ever attached to the movie? According to a new interview with the Russos, the answer is yes, as a key figure in Tony Stark’s life.

katherine langford wasn’t even in endgame fuck y’all who the fuck even started that rumour
The Wrap first announced her casting on Oct. 26, 2018, with information from “individuals with knowledge of the project.” Entertainment Weekly and the Hollywood Reporter also reported the casting, though Marvel made no official comment. Oddly, the news broke after Endgame wrapped production on Oct. 13, 2018.
Though there was no indication of Langdon’s role would have been, people latched onto the idea that she would be playing Kate Bishop, the successor to Hawkeye.
Even after the release of Endgame, some theorized that Langford appeared as Cassie Lang, though people quickly pointed out that Cassie was played by a completely different actress — something that had been announced in April 2018.
On April 25, during an Instagram Story Q&A session, Langford responded to an inquiry about her alleged character with a “...” Hard feelings about a cut scene? Ambivalence about rumors that never had truth? The answer remains ambiguous.

Regardless, Langford’s absence in Endgame still has fans confused, with the conversation turning to background scene hunting and making memes out of the situation.

Update (May 6): Directors Joe and Anthony Russo confirmed on MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast that Katherine Langford filmed a scene for Endgame in which she played an aged-up version of Tony Stark’s daughter Morgan.
“There was an idea that we had that Tony was going to go into the metaphysical way station that Thanos goes into when he snapped his fingers and that there was going to be a future version of his daughter,” said Joe Russo. “We showed it to a test audience and it was ... really confusing.”
Grown-up Morgan was supposed to tell her father she forgave him and let him die in peace. But because the adult version of Morgan didn’t resonate with the audience, the scene never made the final cut.
