Pathway is a mix of Indiana Jones and XCOM

And it’s out soon

Here’s a pleasant surprise: on April 11, Pathway will release on Steam. In it, a team of adventurers journey out into the desert in search of hidden treasures and secrets. Your goal is to find artifacts before the Nazis do.

Beyond the gorgeous pixel art, Pathway’s appeal lies in randomly-generated campaigns that make every playthrough different. There are over 400 story events that promise “tough choices” for your cadre of wanderers. The game offers 16 unlockable characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses that will aid you during your journey. The point of the game is to find secrets, whether that’s better gear or high-value treasure.

The squad-based combat appears tactical, with players needing to make choices about positioning and cover. But if you lose, it’s not the end: According to the developers, characters retain experience and loot throughout playthroughs.

If any of this sounds appealing, don’t just watch the launch trailer — here’s ten minutes of gameplay.
