Super Mario Maker 2 was announced back in February for the Nintendo Switch, and it’s due out in June of this year. Before the game drops, we’re getting a Super Mario Maker 2 Direct from Nintendo. The global presentation is set to last about 15 minutes, and will go live on Wednesday, May 15 at 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT.
We can probably guess at some of the new details, based on a poster that went up in Japanese electronics stores back in April. They hinted at new space- and jungle-themed environments, as well as an appearance by Meowser (a horrifying cat/Bowser hybrid). The Direct is likely going to have a few surprises in store, as well.
The announcement trailer for Super Mario Maker 2 revealed the ability to add slopes, level designs, and gameplay elements from the Wii U title Super Mario 3D World. The infamous and horrifying Angry Sun from Super Mario Bros. 3 also makes his first appearance in Mario Maker, along with airship levels, parachutes, and power ups for enemies.
