John Wick Hex is ‘fight-choreographed chess brought to life as a video game’

John Wick is getting his own video game. And, in a fascinating but brilliant twist, it’s a strategy game. John Wick Hex, coming to console and PC platforms, is in development at Bithell Games, the creators of Volume and Subsurface Circular.

Bithell and publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment describe John Wick Hex as a “fast-paced, action-oriented strategy game that makes you think and strike like John Wick” that was developed with input from the films’ creative and stunt teams. They say that every action in John Wick Hex will have cost and consequences, requiring “precise strategic thinking.”

Similar to the “gun fu” action of the films, ammo will be finite and “realistically simulated,” meaning players will have to plan their reloading carefully and scavenge weapons from downed foes.

As seen in the debut trailer above, voice actor Lance Reddick will reprise his role as Charon, the concierge of the Continental Hotel. Actor Ian McShane will also voice his character, Winston, in John Wick Hex, with other voice cast for the game to be revealed later.

John Wick Hex will be released for unspecified consoles, and Mac and Windows PC through the Epic Games Store. A release date was not announced. The latest film in the franchise, John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum, hits movie theaters on May 17.
