Amazon’s The Boys highlights the team of non-superpowered superhero fighters

One of them is named Mother’s Milk. Yes.

The latest trailer for the upcoming Amazon Prime series The Boys shows off the titular team of non-superpowered CIA operatives. While the first teaser just showed snippets of the show and the first full length trailer played up all the superpowered violence and sex, this one zooms in on the team behind it all.

The Boys is based on a comic book series of the same name penned by Garth Ennis, with illustrations from Darick Robertson. Originally published under DC’s WildStorm imprint, the series was cancelled abruptly before Dynamite Entertainment picked it up. The Boys focuses on a world where superheroes are entitled celebrities, who use their power and fame for self-gain. A task force known as the Boys must reign them in — not an easy task without superpowers themselves.

In the new trailer, veteran Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) recruits rookie Hughie (Jack Quaid); the eccentrically-named team members get little title cards; and Butcher gives an inspirational speech, likening the members of the Boys to the Spice Girls. And much like the previous trailer, there’s still lots of gore and action-pack superpowered fights.

Starring Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Elizabeth Shue as Madelyn Stillwall, and Karen Fukuhara as The Female, The Boys premieres on Amazon on July 26.
