The first Monster Hunter: World Iceborne beta will be exclusive to PlayStation Plus subscribers, and will run from Friday, June 21 at 3 a.m. PDT/6 a.m. EDT through Monday, June 24 at 3 a.m. PDT/6 a.m. EDT. The second beta will be open to all PS4 owners, and run from Friday, June 28 at 3 a.m. PDT/6 a.m. EDT through Monday, July 1 at 3 a.m. PDT/6 a.m. EDT.
Players do not need to own a copy of Monster Hunter: World to take part.
Capcom says the beta will offer three quests: the Great Jagras hunt from the original Monster Hunter: World; a battle against Banbaro, the new horned brute wyvern; and a hunt for Tigrex, which returns to the franchise in Iceborne. Players will have access to 14 weapons and new tools, like the Clutch Claw grapple mechanic for the Slinger.
Monster Hunter: World Iceborne will be a “massive” expansion to the existing game, according to Capcom, featuring a new story, a new locale, and new monsters to battle. Iceborne will cost $39.99 as a stand-alone expansion. A bundle featuring the main game and the Iceborne expansion will cost $59.99. The add-on is coming to PS4 and Xbox One on Sept. 6, with a PC version expected sometime this winter.
