Tifa’s coming to the Final Fantasy fighting game in July

Team Ninja’s fighting game gets some more Final Fantasy 7

Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy 7 is coming to Team Ninja’s Final Fantasy crossover fighting game, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, Square Enix revealed on Tuesday. It’s the Tifa of the original Final Fantasy 7not the remake — so she’s sporting her classic look.

In the gameplay video above, you can see Tifa (a speed/agility-class character) beat up on Final Fantasy 7 bad boy Sephiroth, and get a peek at her alternate, Advent Children-inspired costume. Cloud Strife rounds out FF7’s representation in the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC fighting game.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT was originally released in 2018 for PlayStation 4. It’s based on the arcade game Dissidia Final Fantasy (which was a sequel to PSP game Dissidia Final Fantasy, reaffirming that Square Enix’s strengths do not lie in logically naming video games). A PC version was released in 2019, and free-to-play versions of the game with rotating characters are available on both platforms.

Tifa will be available as paid DLC for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT on July 2 through Steam and July 3 from the PlayStation Store.

The roster of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT features more than 30 characters drawn from each mainline entry in the franchise, from the Warrior of Light from the original Final Fantasy to Noctis from Final Fantasy 15.
