Amazon’s Carnival Row trailer teases fantasy noir and a winged Cara Delevingne

Orlando Bloom co-headlines the Victorian era series

Amazon Prime is ready to unleash a Victorian-era fantasy series starring Cara Delevingne and Orlando Bloom.

Carnival Row, written by Travis Beacham, has floated around since 2005, starting off as a Guillermo Del Toro project. In 2015, Amazon announced that it would adapt the script. Del Toro is no longer associated with the project, but Beachem serves as executive producer and pens the script along with Peter Cameron and René Echevarria

The series takes place in a Victorian fantasy world in which mythical creatures have fled from their war-torn countries and ended up in Carnival Row, the grimiest section of the (unspecified) city. Mysterious murders threaten the inhabitants of the Row, as well as tensions between the fantasy beings and regular humans. Cara Delevingne stars as refugee faerie Vignette Stonemoss with Orlando Bloom as human detective Rycroft Philostrate.

The teaser focuses on these two characters, with a look at Delevingne’s butterfly-esque wings unfurling from her back. Other cast members include David Gyasi (Interstellar), Karla Crome (Misfits), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), and Tamzin Merchant (Salem)

Expect more faeries, fauns, and humans alike in Carnival Row, which premieres on Amazon Prime on Aug. 30.
