In anticipation of Destiny 2: Season of Opulence and the new Crown of Sorrows raid, Bungie released a short trailer for the activity. It’s only 40 seconds long, but shows off some new raid environments, gear pieces, and a new enemy type.
The trailer starts with giant Leviathan doors opening — but the ship isn’t the normal, golden hue players fought through in Destiny 2’s first year. It’s black, dark, and infested. Next, we see Guardians in the new raid gear, holding raid weapons. The gear is a beatiful, but battered, just like the Leviathan itself.
The trailer also shows the Hive as the prominent race Guardians will slay. Players haven’t taken on a predominantly Hive raid since Crota’s End and King’s Fall — the Destiny franchise’s second and third raid respectively, Crown of Sorrow being its tenth. The trailer’s description also gives a hint to the final boss, an unknown former ally of former Cabal emperor, Calus: “Deep within the belly of the Leviathan, one of Calus’ former Loyalists has lost his mind to an Ascendant Hive relic.”
The trailer ends with a link to the Destiny 2 directory on Twitch, where the platform will highlight players gunning for world first when the raid drops on June 4 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
