Neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck, neck

Not only did the poster for the upcoming Steven Universe movie tease an ominous villain that sent us to the evidence boards to spin up theories, but it also revealed a very vital piece of information that Steven Universe fans have been waiting for — Steven’s neck.

Steven’s neck! It’s there! Look at it! He finally has a neck!

The reveal of Steven’s neck has to do with the fact that the movie takes place two whole years after the last episode of season 5, which makes Steven 16 years old. That’s right, our little baby boy is all grown up. He could legally drive, depending on what state Beach City is in.

In a video, the Steven Universe animators and cast discussed the big game changer that is Steven’s neck.

“Neck acquired!” says Steven’s voice actor Zach Callison.

This isn’t actually the first time we’ve seen Steven’s neck. In the 23rd episode of season two “Steven’s Birthday,” Steven uses his shapeshifting powers to age himself up. The Gems are all impressed by this and Amethyst comments on the existence of his neck. By the end of the episode he ages back down, but fans have eagerly awaited the return of Steven’s neck.

The Steven Universe movie does not have a premiere date, but it will air sometime before the end of 2019 on Cartoon Network.
