Season three of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is just around the corner, and the trailer released at SDCC shows us what the stakes are.
Last season delved into the mythology of the world of Etheria, while still finding time for touching relationship-based moments and epic sword fights. We left off on a meet-the-parents episode, where Adora and Glimmer confronted Bow in front of his dads — and also learned some secrets about the world they live in.
“The first season was about setting these characters up, season 2 was about switching things up and pushing the characters deeper,” said showrunner Noelle Stevenson at the SDCC panel. “Three throws characters into situations they’ve never been in before. This is the season where all the characters are going to go to the Crimson Waste, and all the characters are out of their element.”
In the Crimson Waste they’ll meet the fearsome Huntara, voiced by Geena Davis. The trailer teases the character, who we know will reluctantly team up with Adora, Glimmer, and Bow. Season three will pick up right where season two left off, with Catra disgraced in the Horde. Adora, meanwhile, has to deal with the fact that Shadow Weaver has escaped.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power returns to Netflix on Aug. 2.
