Star Wars: The Last Jedi director’s latest is a whodunit with Daniel Craig and Chris Evans

Knives Out boasts one of the most stylish trailers and stacked casts in recent memory

Director Rian Johnson has always had a penchant for twists and turns (see: Brick, Looper, The Brothers Bloom) and his follow-up film to Star Wars: The Last Jedi looks like a thrilling return to form. The first trailer for the whodunit Knives Out couldn’t be more exciting, with Frank Sinatra warbling over footage of an all-star cast at each others’ throats.

When the Robinson family patriarch (Christopher Plummer) passes away at a family gathering, everyone present — including Chris Evans as Alex, the polar opposite of Captain America, as well as Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, Katherine Langford, Riki Lindhome, and Ana de Armas — becomes a suspect for murder.

Trying to unravel the mystery are Detectives Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig, delivering another swing-for-the-fences accent post-Logan Lucky) and Troy Archer (Lakeith Stanfield), who must contend with the tetchy family as well as some very literal interior decorating (i.e. a wall of knives that are just, uh, out).

Also visible in the trailer are Johnson film staple Noah Segan and Vice Principals’ Edi Patterson, who are still only just the tip of the film’s delightful iceberg; the legendary Frank Oz is also part of the film’s cast.

Knives Out is set to hit theaters on Nov. 27.
