Meet Sigma, Overwatch’s new gravity-warping hero

A nice, horrifying trailer for Overwatch Hero 31

After a weekend-long tease on the official Overwatch Twitter account, Blizzard revealed the game’s next hero. Meet Sigma, Hero 31 of Overwatch, who is revealed in a new origin trailer.

This animation shows a non-linear sequence of events, showing a scientist examining the science behind gravity and attempting to harness the power of a black hole. Something goes wrong during the experiment, and Sigma is hospitalized. Throughout the short, he is haunted by a melody and the equations behind his scientific thesis.

At the end, we get the ultimate reveal of Sigma. Not only is he a big, burly man who uses anti-gravity mechanics ... but he’s a part of the terrorist organization Talon. He joins Moira, Doomfist, Reaper, Widowmaker, and Sombra as part of the active roster who are part of Talon. (Baptiste has a Talon skin, but has left the organization in current-day lore.)

It looks as though Sigma will serve as a Talon tank, which is a very cool niche. We’ll likely get to see the details of his gameplay toolkit soon, but this is certainly a memorable introduction to Overwatch’s new hero.
