The wildly funny, musically excellent Carole & Tuesday is finally coming to the United States. The first half of Shinichirō Watanabe’s Martian musical comedy will be available for legal streaming on Netflix on Aug. 30, the company announced on Twitter.
Carole & Tuesday follows two girls living in a future in which Mars has been successfully colonized. Carole is a street musician living in Alba City, the major Martian metropolis. While performing one day, she meets Tuesday, the runaway, guitar-playing daughter of a politician. Together, they struggle to find their voice in a musical landscape dominated by AI music writing and production.
While Carole & Tuesday’s original cast features Japanese voice actors, the majority of songs from the series were recorded by English-speaking artists including Nai Br.XX, Celeina Ann, and Thundercat. ComicBook reports that Netflix will not re-dub any of the songs from the series for its release.
The second half of the series is currently airing in Japan as part of the summer anime season. Netflix reportedly announced at Anime Expo 2019 that only the first half will be available on the platform in August.
