A fire fest evil-themed event is heading to Hearthstone

What if ‘Fyre’ met Blackrock Mountain?

We recently learned that the next Hearthstone expansion takes place in Uldum, and is a direct sequel to the Dalaran themed Rise of Shadows. It looks like the League of EVIL and its newly acquired flying fortress take a slight detour between those two points, because Blizzard is introducing a new three-week event called Fire Fest-EVIL about the League, and Dalaran, crashing into Blackrock Mountain.

This event allows players to unlock card packs for the upcoming Saviors of Uldum expansion, as well as some other rewards.

Tavern brawls and rewards

There will be three tavern brawls. The first, which runs from July 10-17, offers a solo adventure where players take the role of members of the League of EVIL and battle against Blackrock Mountain bosses, with the following rewards made available:

  • Earn 1 Saviors of Uldum Card Pack the first time you defeat 4 bosses
  • Beat all 8 bosses to earn the Ragnaros Card Back
  • All completed runs will be timed with rewards based on how quickly you make it to the top of the mountain. How fast can you best the bosses of Blackrock Mountain?
  • Beat all 8 bosses in under 1 hour to earn a Golden Bronze Herald card
  • Beat all 8 bosses in under 40 minutes to earn a Golden Recurring Villain card

The second week, which runs from July 17-24, continues the above event with a new playable hero. The following rewards will be available throughout week two.

  • Earn 1 Saviors of Uldum Card Pack the first time you defeat 4 bosses
  • Beat all 8 bosses using Arch-Villain Rafaam to earn a Golden Rafaam’s Scheme card

Finally, during week three, players will unlock The Burndown. This event runs from July 24-31, and is a PvP event where players queue up and receive a random deck. Players who lose receive the deck who defeated them for their next bout, and at the end of the day, only the strongest and most victorious decks will be left standing amongst the chaos. The Burndown has the following reward:

  • Earn 1 Saviors of Uldum card pack the first time you win a match

Card reveals and community

Players will have their progress tracked. When players collectively defeat 25 million bosses in these brawls, they will unlock a reveal for a Saviors of Uldum legendary card. Three more Saviors of Uldum cards will be revealed along the way, at 25%, 50%, and 75% progress.

Fireside Gatherings, which are real life Hearthstone community meetups, will also be available. From July 10-31, players will be able to connect at Hearthside Gatherings, and raid against a Ragnaros boss with 15,000 health. Every time Ragnaros is defeated at a Fireside gathering raid, it contributes 500 kills to the total tally of boss defeats.

Finally, there will be new Legendary in-game quests unlocked each day for the first seven days of the event. If your quest log is full, a Legendary quest will replace a standard quest. These Legendary quests will offer card packs from the expansion sets available in Standard, or large sums of gold. The quests must be completed before the event’s end on July 31.
