Almost two years later and players are still trying to find ways to ruin very good video game Super Mario Odyssey. Monsters are now taking away Mario’s mustache.
YouTuber ProsafiaGaming recently published a video showing off a new Super Mario Odyssey mod from M&M, a creator on the GameBanana modder site. The mod removes one of Mario’s most famous features: His beautiful, robust, Italian mustache.
The horror starts about 30 seconds into ProsafiaGaming’s video and continues for another 17 minutes of mustache-less Mario gameplay.
Despite being an affront against God and Miyamoto, the mod actually looks pretty good. The skin under Mario’s facial fur looks like it actually belongs rather than being a weird glob of discolored pixels. The mod does a great job of capturing Mario’s adorable baby face.
Speaking from experience, however, no Italian lip has ever looked as clean as this mod depicts. If Mario grew layer of five-o’clock a few in-game minutes after shaving, the mod would be a bit more accurate.
Players can download the mod from M&M’s page on GameBanana. While the modder intends to add a no-mustache mode to the update skins, Super Mario Odyssey’s base skins should all show a less refined Mario.
If you encounter a shaved Mario in the wild, please point him toward some ingrown hair cream as quickly as you can.
