Game of Thrones and Crazy Rich Asians cross over for Christmas

Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding star in this George Michael-themed rom-com

Thanks to Paul Feig, Emma Thompson, and George Michael, it looks like Daenerys Targaryen might get a happy ending after all.

Last Christmas, directed by Feig, co-written by Thompson and Bryony Kimmings, and featuring the music of the late singer, stars Emilia Clarke as Kate, a cynic working as an elf in a year-round Christmas shop owned by Michelle Yeoh. Her outlook starts to change as she keeps encountering Tom (Henry Golding), a charming oddball who seems a little too good to be true.

“We refer to it as a dramatic romantic comedy,” Feig said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, teasing the brief glimpses we get in the trailer of Kate’s past illness and fraught relationship with her family.

The million-dollar question is, of course, whether we ought to be expecting some sort of twist. Kate’s history, as well as the film’s title, would seem to imply that there might be more to this story than meets the eye. Is Golding dead? Is one of them going to die? We’ll just have to wait and see.

The movie is set to hit theaters Nov. 8, putting Christmas songs in your head way before they’re actually seasonally appropriate.
